When it comes to HIV—

What's your strategy
for long-term treatment success?

Explore key factors that may contribute to long-term treatment success

Providers should aim to follow the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) guidelines, which state that viral suppression is the primary goal of HIV treatment. However, due to advances in care, providers are able to look beyond simply achieving an undetectable viral load.1

There are many factors that may play a role in long-term treatment success for people living with HIV (PLWH), including achieving a sustained undetectable viral load and supporting adherence to medication and monitoring. Addressing factors such as systemic stigma and discrimination can also impact patients' experiences in care.

It is important to provide HIV care that supports long-term treatment success, which can start with a comprehensive approach to therapy.1

Consider a comprehensive treatment approach

It’s important to consider multiple factors that may contribute to long-term treatment success for your patients.

Optimize treatment

According to the DHHS guidelines, there are several reasons to consider optimizing therapy and/or switching treatment regimens. Optimizing treatment may be necessary when working toward long-term treatment success.
